North East Texas Organization of Language Educators

Constitution

ARTICLE I

Section 1.  This organization shall be known as the North East Texas Organization of Language Educators, Net Olé.

 

Section 2.  The purpose of this organization shall be to promote the progress of language teaching, an understanding of the culture, and a high standard of professional ethics within the profession in the Northeast Texas area.

 

Section 3.  This organization shall be comprised of teachers and administrators within the Northeast Texas area.

 

ARTICLE II

Section 1.  The officers of the organization shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  (Amended 6-1988)

 

Section 2. The President, the Vice-President, and the Secretary shall hold office for one year, or until an election is held. (Amended 5-2007)

 

Section 3. The President shall preside at all the meetings and have charge of all the business of the organization.

 

Section 4.  The Vice-President shall preside at all meetings in the absence of the President and shall succeed to the office in the event of death or resignation of the President.

 

Section 5. The Secretary shall be responsible for keeping all necessary records.

 

Section 6.  The Treasurer shall be the custodian of all Net Olé funds.  The Treasurer shall report to the membership at the spring business meeting.

 

Section 7. Deleted per Amendment 6-1988.

 

Section 8. A Rules Committee meeting, consisting of at least one teacher from each participating high school, will take place within 10 days after the competition. At the meeting, the student awards (ribbons, rosettes, medals and trophies) will be distributed to the representative from each school. An agenda will be sent out to Net Olé members the Monday after the symposium for the meeting. (Amended 5-2007)

 

ARTICLE III

 

Section 1. This constitution may be amended by submitting in writing to the Rules Committee the proposed amendment thirty (30) days prior to either a ballot by mail or a meeting of Net Olé.  A majority vote of either the members’ returned ballots or the members present at the business meeting shall be necessary to amend the constitution.

 

Section 2.  This constitution and all of its provisions shall be in effect upon its adoption by the organization.

 

ARTICLE IV

TEXAS FOREIGN LANGUAGES SYMPOSIUM

 

This symposium will be held during the spring semester on the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus.

The purpose of the symposium is to give our foreign language students an opportunity

 

(1) to practice their language skills (a goal of performance toward the end of the year).

(2) to share information and ideas with other districts’ students.

(3) to be rewarded or recognized for work well done.

(4) to find that the study of a foreign language can be fun and profitable.

The selection of directors will be decided at the Rules Committee meeting (Amended 5-2019)
